RECOVERING FROM A CRASH

VERY IMPORTANT! BACKUP YOUR DATABASE DATA.fmpur FILE FREQUENTLY!

Power failures, hardware problems, or other factors can damage a database file. If your database solution becomes damaged, you will need to recover the damaged file. When the application discovers a damaged file, a dialog box generally appears. Even if the dialog box does not appear, files can become corrupted and exhibit erratic behavior.

These steps can attempt to recover your damaged DATABASE DATE.fmpur file (where all your data sits).

STEP ONE

Select the program application and, while pressing <CTRL+SHIFT> double click the application. You may have to hold these keys down for a few seconds.

STEP TWO

You'll be asked to select the damaged file. IT WILL ALWAYS BE YOUR

DATABASE DATA FILE.

STEP THREE

Allow it to attempt to make repairs. This could take a few minutes- depending on the size of your data.

STEP FOUR

You will see a dialog box presenting the results.

STEP FIVE

If the recovery was successful, your old file will be renamed by adding "Old" to the end of the file name. The repaired file will have the original name. Click <Cancel> and begin your new session.

THAT'S IT! YOUR DONE. These recovery steps will attempt to repair the damage, but may not be successful. The best safeguard against these mishaps is to make frequent backups. You are encouraged to not only backup your DATABASE DATA.fmpur file, but the entire program folder.
